More About Britt

AS SEEN IN

do the work play

We often refer to “the work” when describing the dedication required for strong antiracist and anti-bias practices. But this ingrained, white supremacist, capitalist narrative to “work” can be harmful to the people and the process. What if we transform “the work” into play? Could that help us create a more authentically equitable, antiracist world?

Britt Hawthorne knows so. Like work, play involves the whole self, requires curiosity and persistence, follows “rules” that can constantly change, and leads the learner towards independence but is not always done independently.

Think of your antiracism and anti-bias practice as “play” to restore a sense of curiosity, excitement, and engagement in your journey.

When we play, we introduce radical self-love, compassionate accountability, and rebellion against white supremacist capitalism to the practice. Learn how to ditch perfectionism for creating, sharing, and taking risks.

Antiracism is not a destination, it’s a practice.

What Britt Offers

learn by doing

Britt Hawthorne’s antiracism workshops and anti-bias training follow the philosophy of “learn by doing.” This is not a “Sit and Get” workshop. Expect to learn the language of inequality, identify practices you want to change, create a self-study for action, and join a community of learners. Participants will have time to ask questions, share concerns, and request specific resources they need to continue this work play.

Britt honors your entry point into your antiracism practice and anti-bias education, cultivating a compassionate learning environment for those committed to the work play. Participants are empowered to be full shareholders in their learning journey by engaging in small group active movement and delving deep into the hands-on lessons.

Cultivate a Personal and Collective
AntiRacism Practice

Designed for all people—whether you are a person of the global majority or you are white—Britt Hawthorne’s antiracism workshops help you take the step from book-learning to a daily antiracism practice. From raising antiracist children to cultivating an antiracist classroom, her workshops give educators and parents the tools, resources, and education they need to create equitable, antiracist environments for children and students to thrive. Becoming antiracist takes time, practice, and compassionate accountability. Learn how to disrupt and dismantle racism on an individual and systemic level.

Antiracism is the constant attention and work to recenter people of the global majority, to redistribute resources to communities of color, and hold systems accountable for the ways they commit harm and violence against Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

BOOK BRITT FOR A KEYNOTE

Praise for AntiRacism Workshops

I have attended the anti-bias at home webinar by Britt twice now and consider it essential viewing for everyone – it’s something you can work on, reflect on and then return to. Britt is great at getting you to slow down and take note of your experiences and history with racism and prejudice and work you can do. Well-meaning parents often want to make their kids fix racism but here we recognize the work starts with us. It is an amazing starting point with practical tips and explanations. I have a 1-year-old and 4-year-old.

This workshop has been an amazing resource and learning opportunity. I know that I will be coming back to it again and again because there was so much information and opportunity for reflection.
